Making a dovetailed infill bench rebate plane.

Using the reference side down on the plate I scribed the layout lines 43mm apart all the way around for the internal corner. Then on a scrap of aluminium angle I clamped the base and side to scribe the top of pins.

(left below) With the back of the throat opening carefully aligned with the side opening I mark all the pins, then the lines are transferred square around the base and making sure to hack saw on the INSIDE of the layout lines, cut down to just above the line.

Then again with a jewellers saw I remove the waste ready for more fun with the files. This is quite a time consuming way to remove the waste, it can be gang drilled. In the past I have just turned a flat file on its edge and hogged it out...either way it takes a bit less than 5 minutes per opening to remove the waste...Ahhhh....Zen and the art of filing out the waste....
